The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation invites students in grades 9–12 to write about an act of political courage by a U.S. elected official who served during or after 1917.
Award: $10,000
Deadline: January 11, 2027
Essay Requirements:
Write an original 700–1,000 word essay
Describe and analyze an act of political courage
Use at least 5 varied sources, such as government documents, letters, newspaper articles, books, or personal interviews

Students in grades 9–12
Includes correspondence and GED programs
U.S. citizens attending schools overseas are eligible
