Educational Movie List

Here are my favorite math and sci-fi movie list! Some of these movies I grew up with and they are what helped me to think ahead in the future (of my own education and of the environment)...and to understand why math and science are important and always relevant in the real world...past and present! Then too on my list are character building videos that help me to stay focused on the importance of teaching and learning, to keep being imaginative/creative, and to have positive behaviors and attitudes for ourselves and others that inspire effort and perseverance.

Some of the movies probably can be found on YouTube or other video streaming websites. Some of them may be free or need to be purchased. Make this a family time and after the movie, discuss how the movie/documentaries can be applied to your life. The ones that are italicized are movies that might have some swear words and/or mild innuendos...so just be cautious...and I hope you get the overall meaning of the story instead...despite those scenes.

I hope you enjoy watching any of these movies:
  • 2 Million Minutes (Note- This is a documentary, and Chapter 1 says it all. Other chapters are serious round table discussions with the students and the producer)
  • 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea (G)
  • APOLLO 13 (PG)
  • Around the World in 80 Days (G)
  • Big Miracle (PG)
