Beowulf Vocabulary

Literary Terms and Vocabulary for the Beowulf unit. Students are to have a copy of these within their Notes notebook so that they can study these and know the definitions. For the literary terms, we go over in class how to find these elements within the story.

Characteristics of a Trickster Tale

Students are to fill this in from the stories we have read in class about the different Trickster Tales from the Native American and African American cultures. After we finish reading one story students are to write anything down that they noticed would apply to the different headings before we start on the next reading.

Welcome and Introduction

Welcome to Winslow High School for the 2017 – 2018 school year! I am excited that I will be your son or daughter’s English teacher. My name is Ms. Jacobsen (Todich’ii’nii bashishchiin Norway dashicheii biligaana dashineii Bidwells of England and Blackfoot tribe). I am new to the district and come from teaching on the Rez where I taught grades 7 - 12. Prior to that, I taught grades K through college in California. I am getting married this November to my boyfriend who is Navajo; we have two wonderful children who are in 4th and 7th grade.
I came to this school so that I can help your child learn, grow, and succeed in their education and propel them into a positive future! Please let me know if there is anything that I can do to help your child. I have an open door policy; if you or your child would like to come speak to me, please come in or make an appointment with me. Let's make this a positive and fun-filled year together as learn about one another.
